Ceramics
Ceramics is an art that was developed by the oldest civilizations known in the history, and it adds decoration and ornamentation qualities to the wares that satisfy the daily needs of humans. Making pottery from soil begins with the Mesopotamian and Anatolian cultures and exists throughout all their phases. This art was molded in the Anatolian culture, and as from the 13th century when Turks reigned on these soils and during the Seljukian Empire, it made a very conspicous development and proved its identity. The Ottoman cultural structure inherited that art the end of the 15th century, and during the rising period of the empire, it reached its apex together with other arts. The works produced in the Iznik workshops are known as the masterpieces of this art branch of ours.
